Digital Talks Event – Getting the Virtual and real worlds talking
28th June, 2018 The Vox, Birmingham
Increasing complex consumer demand such as customisation and same day delivery, as well as shorter innovation cycles and environmental and regulatory pressures are driving the need for manufacturing speed, flexibility, quality and efficiency.
This event is designed to show you the tools available at each stage of the value chain, as early on as planning, to help you drive value at every opportunity - from design through to execution. The crux of this is getting the physical and virtual worlds talking in one common data model, to give you a perfect digital copy of the value chain – a digital twin. This can then be used to improve product design, streamline production and understand performance.
By getting the virtual worlds of design, testing and simulation talking with the physical world of production you can, no matter where your starting point, unlock your Digital Enterprise for a more competitive future.
09:30 – 09:45 Welcome and introduction by Brian Holliday, Managing Director of Digital Factory - Siemens UK
09:45 – 10:30 Demystifying digitalisation panel debate with leading industry experts. Hosted by Brian Holliday, Managing Director of Digital Factory - Siemens UK and Ben Sheath, Managing Director of PLM UK
Factory tour or workshops
10:30 – 12:30 Delegates will then either attend the factory tour or go into workshops. Delegates will then swap over lunch.
Virtual Factory Tour
Mimicking a real discrete plant environment, using realistic scenarios and live demonstrations, experts will show you the value digitalisation can bring to your organisation at each stage of the value chain and how this translates to the productivity, sustainability and competitiveness of your business.
Topics covered will include:
Product design - CAD, design for additive, composites, simulation
Production planning - Process simulation and optimisation
Production engineering - Automated engineering, virtual commissioning, kinematics and robotic programming
Production execution - Shop floor scheduling and execution, energy management
Services - Cloud based Product intelligence
The key drivers of any discrete manufacturer are based on increasingly complex consumer demands. Consumers of products manufactured into the UK want things faster, with better quality and cheaper. The reality of making this happen is ultimately underpinned by the technology of today and tomorrow. The challenge of skills and resources are also fundamental to ensure that you are well placed when you come to building your digitalisation business or implementing and optimising your digital strategy.
Workshop 1: Future of Automation including edge computing, cloud augmented reality and artificial intelligence
Workshop 2: Value of a support ecosystem including technology partners, consultancy, training, skills and education
Workshop 3: Quality - Realise the value of a holistic production execution solution that provides full visibility into manufacturing processes so you can steadily improve manufacturing operations performance
Lunch and knowledge hub
Work with a digital twin of a real production machine in the knowledge hub with experts on hand to answer any questions you may have. This gives a more intimate experience of the complete product lifecycle with experts available to answer questions, brainstorm your issues and discuss the best solutions
